Merstham Football Club today got the chance to come face-to-face with the FA Carlsberg Vase as the trophy made a special visit to the club ahead of their eagerly anticipated Quarter Final tie against Needham Market on Saturday, 1st March. As part of the unique visit, the trophy was also on display at Furzefield Primary School and The Belfry Shopping Centre, giving members of the public a rare glimpse of one of the most coveted prizes in non-league football. The directors of Merstham FC would like give thanks to Bob Twells, Head Teacher at Furzefield School and Margaret Spencer, Head Teacher at Merstham Primary School for their cooperation in letting children who play for Merstham FC be photographed with the trophy in their MFC kits. Let us hope that this is a good omen for the club and the trophy returns to Merstham for a more permanent place of honour.
