Christmas Message

Hello and welcome to some online notes!

As it’s been a frustrating few weeks since our last home game, due to the adverse weather conditions, I thought I would ask Kevin to post an update from me.

Two points were thrown away at home to Eastbourne Town. We should have been more than 1-0 up at half time and ultimately that cost us, conceding a late equaliser. We should have seen the game out better and gave away possession very easily towards the end of the game instead of winding down the minutes.

The performance at Corinthian-Casuals was quite possibly one of the worst I’ve seen from one of my sides for the last five years. It was all set up to be a great game on a fantastic pitch but we just didn’t perform and it was very embarrassing indeed. Only a few players came out with any credit, it wasn’t the performance I expect from one of my sides and from a team looking to get in to the play offs.

We went in to the Ramsgate game without having the chance to train for a couple of weeks and it was a great three points to get. The boys had kept themselves ticking over fitness wise and whilst a draw was probably a fair result it was nice to get a late winner.

Matt York made his debut for us a few weeks back and straight away showed what a quality player he is. Yorky has played at Conference South level and captained Tooting & Mitcham in Ryman Premier for the last two seasons. He will add experience to the side and hopefully give us that extra push for the play offs. Craig Dunne is itching to get back involved playing and is earmarked for some game time as soon as we start playing again! This will be a massive bonus for the Club and I can’t wait for him to get back in to the 1st team.

On a sad note I have to announce that Club Captain Wes Goggin has decided to retire from playing, mainly due to not being able to commit the time required. It’s a massive shame for us, he’s always one of the first names down on my team sheet and his commitment since he joined the Club has been 1st class. As disappointed as I am, we have left on good terms and have left the door open for him should he change his mind. We have enough depth in the squad to cover Wes’s departure with Adam Moriarty, Louis Clark and Aaron Murphy able to play centre midfield and with Dunney being ready for action we actually have a perfect replacement but obviously just need to get him games.

Over the last few weeks I have been offered a few players who want to join our club. At the moment I’ve put any new signings on hold because I believe we have a quality side. However, if performances are as bad as they were against Corinthian-Casuals I won’t hesitate to change things around. I am determined not to fall away from the play off pack like we did this time last season.

Finally, on behalf of the Players and Management, I would like to wish all Supporters, Directors & Staff at the Club a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.

Fingers crossed we get some football very soon!

Graeme
